For Parents
Here is what parents and guardians should know when a child plays "VELSIA: Star Ring Arena" (the "App").
1. About the game
The App is a team battle game (MOBA) for iPhone, set in a fantasy world, in which two teams of five fight each other. It includes combat between characters. For the recommended age, see the age rating on the App Store product page.
2. Purchases
- The game is free to play. The paid items are Astral Gems, an in-game currency used for items that change appearance, and Star Pass Premium, bought each season. No paid item has randomized contents.
- Monthly purchase limits apply based on the age group chosen at first launch (15 and under: JPY 5,000; 16 to 19: JPY 10,000; 20 and over: no limit). The age group is self-reported.
- Please ask your child to get your consent before buying anything.
- Refunds for App Store purchases are decided by Apple (https://reportaproblem.apple.com).
3. Controls on iPhone
- Ask to Buy: With Family Sharing, you can approve your child's purchases and downloads (https://support.apple.com/en-us/105055).
- Screen Time: You can block In-App Purchases and set time limits (https://support.apple.com/en-us/105121).
- Local Network: Turning the App off in Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network prevents playing on the same Wi-Fi (nearby rooms).
4. Online features
- Matches against AI can be played without an internet connection.
- In online matches, your child can play with friends elsewhere using a room code, or with people nearby on the same Wi-Fi. With the friend feature, players exchange friend codes to become friends and invite each other to parties.
- The App has no free-text chat or voice chat. Other players can see your child's display name, icon, chosen hero and similar information. The App automatically rejects display names that contain some offensive words or contact details, and checks names received from other players the same way and hides them, but it can't catch every inappropriate name.
- Anyone who knows a room code, and anyone on the same Wi-Fi, can join a room without the host's approval, so your child may end up in a match with people they don't know.
- The online features can be used only after accepting the Community Guidelines and Terms of Service in the App. Players who select the under-13 age group cannot use them. The age group is self-reported, and the App has no parental controls of its own.
- Players can block and report others who bother them, and the host can remove players from the room.
5. Things to talk about with your child
- Don't use a real name, school or anything else that identifies you as a display name.
- Only give room codes and friend codes to friends you know.
- Don't open the online screen on public Wi-Fi or other networks shared with strangers.
- If something upsets you, tell a parent or a trusted adult, and block and report the player.
